Two Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel were killed and 14 others injured when the vehicle in which they were travelling overturned at Ponpadi village near the Tamil Nadu-Andhra Pradesh border today.
Police said 16 CISF personnel, including the driver, were on their way to Ranchi via Andhra Pradesh from the Takkolam Regimental Training Centre, when the mishap occurred.
Some of the CISF personnel were sleeping in the vehicle when the accident occurred, they said.
The driver apparently lost control while negotiating a curve and in the process the vehicle overturned, killing Constable A H Chand (35) on the spot.
Chand, who was sleeping in a corner of the vehicle, was crushed to the death as he was caught beneath the vehicle.
Fifteen others sustained injuries and were rushed to the Tiruttani Government Taluk Hospitla, where Head Constable S P Singh (45) was declared brought dead.
The remaining 14 injured, who suffered fractures and bruises, were treated as out-patients and referred to the MIOT Hospitals in Chennai for treatment.
