Revenue from Tamil Nadu's Temples continues to see a steady rise, with
Tiruttani
, Madurai and Srirangam recording the highest growth this year. The major sources of income still are the 'hundi' or the donation box collections and ticket sales to pilgrims. Tiruttani is the biggest money spinner for the government. Here, the total income has jumped nearly 50 per cent in two years from Rs210 million in 2008-09 to Rs300 million in 2010-11.
