Formation of Tiruvallur Region - A Synopsis

        The Tiruvallur Region of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Villupuram) Ltd., is functioning as a separate region by having Tiruvallur at Head quarters Previously the region was under the control of Kancheepuram Region of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Villupuram) Ltd., The bus transport needs of Tiruvallur District is being met by Tiruvallur region. The region is headed by General Manager and he is assisted by a Divisional Manager. All region are under the control of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (Villupuram) Ltd., Villupuram which is headed by Managing Director.

At present, Tiruvallur region is having depots at the following places.

	Tiruvallur
	Tiruttani
	Uthukkottai
	Ponneri
	Koyambedu

    Each depot is headed by a Branch Manager. Tiruvallur region is operating buses to all places of Tiruvallur District and also consequent to the expansion of MMDA area for bus operation, M/s Metropolitan Transport Corporation Ltd., is also operation adequate No. of buses in the extended area. Apart from depot at Tiruvallur, a Workshop to make the vehicles ready for Fitness Certificate is also functioning in the Tiruvallur Depot complex.

    At present, all major places of District are well connected to Vellore, Tiruchy, Bangalore, Chennai, Kancheepuram, Chengalpet. To monitor the functional operation of buses Time Keepers have been posted at Tiruvallur, Tiruttani, Poonamallee, Ponneri, Uthukkottai, Koyambedu Bus stand, Redhills, Tirupathy & Sri Kalahasthi. All major places of the District are fully connected to Chennai City through frequent bus operation.

    In connection with Adi Kiruthigai & Padi Urchavam festivals at Tiruttani and Adi festival at Periyapalayam, adequate No. of additional buses are being operated to various places for the benefit of devotees. The Tiruvallur region of Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (villupuram) Ltd., is taking every possible steps to meet the bus transport needs of Tiruvallur District.
