Vasanth Television will most possibly live telecast Tiruttani Sri Subramanya Swamy Aadi Kiruthigai Theppa Utsavam from 6.30 pm on July 25 2011 (Monday), July 26 & July 27. In 2010 Vasanth TV had live telecasted the event. This year too they are expected to do so.

Adi Krithigai Fasting:
Aadi Krithigai is celebrated on July 25 2011 (Monday). Generally on all Kiruthigai special abhishegham, alangaaram and pujaas are done to Lord Muruga in temples.Aadi Krithigai is very special. Many devotees fast in this day and take Kaavadi, Paal Kuddam and do paadhayatra to Lord Muruga Temples. Chanting of Lord Muruga hymns and playing of percussion instruments by devotees can be seen in temples.

Aadi Kiruthigai in Temples:
Special yagnas will take place in temples. Special Abhishekam to Moolavar and Uthsavar with milk, curd, panchamirtham, tender coconut, sandal, paneer, honey, thiruneer, panchakavi, fruit juices and other diraviams amidst the chanting of vedas will be held. Special Santhana kappu, Thanga kavasa kappu, Raja Alankaram, thiruneer kappu, poo alankaram etc., will be done to Lord Muruga. Maha deeparadhanai will be take place after archana. Lord Muruga will come in procession in the mada veethi's of temple.

Lakhs of devotees will throng temples especially at Tiruttani Sri Subramanya temple at hill top. Three day float festival is held in Tiruttani during this occasion. Millions of devotees from Tamilnadu and Andhra pradesh will come to this temple. Special buses and trains are scheduled especially for this occasion. Lord Muruga:
According to Skanda Purana, Lord Muruga took birth from third eye of Lord Shiva as six flames. Agni and Vayu deva carried the six Flames of Lord Muruga to the Saravana Poigai. Kaarthigai Pengal took care of the six babies from Lotus flowers in Saravana poigai.When Lord Muruga attained boyhood, Goddess Parvati took six babies from Kaarthigai Pengal and made them to single boy with six faces. Hence Lord Muruga is also called Lord Shanmuga. Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvathi granted Kaarthigai pengal boon that special poojas for Lord Muruga will be held in every Krithiga nakshatra.
