Celebrate Lord Muruga's birthday

Lord Muruga, also known as Lord Karthikeya to north Indians, is a royal warrior God who protects you against enemies and diseases if you pray to him. He is also known as Mahasenani (the great warrior) who has a peacock as his vehicle and a vel (spear) as his weapon.

The time from May 26 to July 19 is the best time to pray to him for getting his blessings and his divine energy. He is the son of Shiva and Parvati, born, as many other gods were, for the specific purpose of slaying a demon who had obtained a boon from Lord Shiva.

Reciting the 'Kanda Sashti Kavacham' during this period along with his 108 names will provide immense benefit and blessings. Visit some Murugan temple regularly during this period and offer prayers and request the priest to perform an archana on your behalf.

Interestingly, Lord Muruga represents the Trinity aspect of the Universe. The 'Mu' stands for Mukunda (Vishnu), 'Ru' stands for Rudra (Mahadeva or Shiva) and 'Ga' or 'Ka' stands for Kamala (Brahma). Thus, Lord Muruga is the embodiment of the Trinity and a very clever and intelligent warrior.
