There are 10 corporations in tamilnadu. In that Chennai, Madhurai, Kovai, Tirunelveli, Selam, Thuthukudi, Vellore, Erode and Tirupur Corporation's elections will be conducted on 17-10-2011. Only for Tirchy corporation date of panchayat election will be announced due to the Tirchy elections 2011.

Tamilnadu panchayat election 2011 vote counting will be done on 21-10-2011.

Results of Tamilnadu panchayat election 2011 will be announced on 21-10-2011(the same day of vote counting). First time in the history of Indian elections, electronic voting machines known as EVM will be used in Tamilnadu panchayat elections.

How to vote in Tamilnadu panchayat election: There will be two EVM's kept in polling booths to elect mayor on president and ward member. For this panchayat election 2011, first time online voters list with photo ID is prepared by election commission. Along with that booth ships with photo will be given to the voters door to door by government staffs. Those who receive the booth ships for panchayat election 2011 have to acknowledge in the register. Those who did not receive the booth ships can get it from officers near to polling booth.
